Jeffrey de Zwaan has the honor to open the 2019 PDC World Darts Championship on Thursday evening. The Dutchman faces the Indian qualifier Nitin Kumar in the first match of the tournament.

If 'The Black Cobra' wins his first match, then he will play reigning world champion Rob Cross later on the opening night. De Zwaan looks forward to his Alexandra Palace return in a chat with . ''I have had worse draws'', was his first thought after the draw was made on November 26. De Zwaan refers to his two matches with Michael van Gerwen earlier this year at the UK Open and World Matchplay. Although a match with Cross is on the cards, De Zwaan first focuses on his Indian opponent in the first round. ''I don't know Kumar, but I should win that game. But you never know, he is not here for nothing. It could be a very hard game.'' Still, the 22-year-old Dutchman dreams of a meeting with world champion Cross. De Zwaan also sees opportunities to immediately eliminate him at the World Championship. ''When you are looking to his results this year, you can't say he had a good season. I'm feeling great over the last few months and fancy my chances against him. He will feel much pressure in his first game as a world champion there. Rob won't be happy with me as his first opponent because I can give him a good game'', De Zwaan said. for more information about the PDC World Darts Championship, including schedules and the prize fund breakdown.
