'It was a dream come true' - Diogo Portela speaks after loss to Peter Wright on World Championship debut

Diogo Portela made his World Championship debut last night and in the process became the first ever Brazilian to do so and he made things hard for Peter Wright taking a set off the World Number Two before tailing off and losing 3-1 but in defeat Portela spoke and said it was a dream come true and it shows that he can mix it with the best.
He also set out his targets and admitted last night's defeat keeps him motivated to come back next year.
"It was a dream come true," said Portela. "I didn't play my best. I was nervous at first then I relaxed a little bit in the second set but I went off the boil in the last set, couldn't find the range.
"This experience for me though just proves that I can mix it with the best. If I can get a set off the number two in the world I can do a lot on the tour.
"So it just keeps me motivated to come back here next year and next target is the Premier League!"

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
