Bobby George has spoken out against the BDO's decision not to include Lisa Ashton in the Grand Slam of Darts.
The BDO were given their customary eight spots to fill at the Grand Slam. Lakeside finalists Glen Durrant and Mark McGeeney have been included. So too has World Masters champion Adam Smith-Neale, as well as Jim Williams, Wesley Harms, Michael Unterbuchner, Scott Mitchell and Gary Robson. George, an outspoken supporter of the women's game, could not believe Lakeside champion Ashton wasn't involved. "She's the ladies World Champion and the ladies World Master - it doesn't take a lot of working out," George said in a interview. "You can't have the best if you haven't got the best in it." Ashton shared her disappointment at the snub in a Facebook post. George mirrored those sentiments, questioning the BDO's thinking. "She's the best lady darts player in the world and she should actually be in it. "I don't how that came about, I can't get it in my head - it's ridiculous."
