Thousands of amateurs have competed already in the first ten
qualifying events. Andrew Davidson, Michael Burgoine and Joe Davis had already secured their spots before this weekend. Now nine more have joined the ranks. They will feature at the
UK Open in March.
The highest profile Riley's champion so far is
Paul Hogan. 'Crocodile Dundee' reached the last 16 at Minehead last year, stunning Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis before losing against eventual finalist Gerwyn Price. Hogan will appear at his fifth successive UK Open. Norwich winner Jason Mold also continued some fine form. He will appear at his fourth UK Open in five years.
Mark Rice was victorious in the first of two Liverpool tournaments. He last appeared two years ago. Liam Kelly, a winner in Wolverhampton, ends a six-year hiatus. Ian Jopling and Tony Mitchell qualify, having last appeared nine and ten years ago respectively.
The second Wolverhampton winner, Mark Craddock, will make his Minehead debut. So too will Andrew Johnson and Benjamin McClelland. There are 18 more Riley's qualifiers to be played, with the next four taking place on February 3.
