Michael van Gerwen GDO 18 1

The World Matchplay begins in a few weeks and ahead of that, odds have been released for the first round of the competition giving a potential indicator of who will be coming through.

Michael van Gerwen is heavily fancied to see off Jeffrey de Zwaan with 1/25 odds, this is despite De Zwaan beating him at the UK Open. MVG will be desperate to put that right and claim his third World Matchplay crown.
Of the other big names, Gary Anderson is 1/5 to defeat a resurgent Stephen Bunting. Peter Wright is of 2/9 odds to see of Jelle Klaasen.
Also Rob Cross is 2/9 to see off Mervyn King also with Cross hoping to add to his World title after an average year so far.
