Peter Wright is the final man through to Round 2 and made sure the slide of the seeds did not continue. He defeated Diogo Portela, the first ever Brazilian to qualify for the World Championship 3-1 who despite the scoreline and Wright not playing 100% his A-game due to by his own admission not being fully well pushed the World Number 2.
After originally performing really well, it was one way traffic with 'Snakebite' showing some class and hitting constant 140's and not giving the Brazilian a chance to get another set and potentially give one of the biggest shocks in the World Championship so far.
Wright though averaged 97.9 compared to Portela's 91 and hit 3 180's and will play Jamie Lewis in Round 2 who overcame Jonny Clayton in a good quarter for the current reigning UK Open Champion.
