Krzysztof Ratajski continued the first round and his hunt for a World Championship place by defeating former UK Open and World Grand Prix champion Robert Thornton. The newly crowned World Master averaged 98.88 in defeating 'The Thorn' 6-4 and will be a big threat this weekend for sure.
Vincent van der Voort dispatched a potential tricky opponent in the youngster Nico Blum who recently like Ratajski won the World Masters but the Boy's version. 'The Dutch Destroyer' averaged 89 to Blum's 90 in the 6-3 victory to move on through to round 2.
James Richardson lived up to his nickname 'Ruthless' and set up a meeting with Alan 'Chuck' Norris tomorrow, he achieved 6/7 on the doubles and hit a 170 finish in a brilliant 6-3 win over Dimitri van den Bergh for the Rushden man.
Rene Eidams came from the brink of defeat to knock out the in form Jeffrey de Zwaan. 'The Cube' was 3-0 up with JDZ pulling it back and when it looked like Rene's nerves was shot he came back to win to the delight of the home crowd.
