MASTERS RD1 VBARNEVELD12

Raymond van Barneveld cruised into the Masters semi-finals with a 10-2 thrashing of Peter Wright.

The five-time world champion sped into a 5-0 lead in Milton Keynes. The Dutchman averaged 110.5 in the opening stages. After a slow first leg, in which van Barneveld won the throw, the game started to pick up. Wright, averaging 94, was unable to keep up. Brilliant 121 and 126 checkouts sealed a clean sweep in the opening session.
Wright finally grabbed his first leg of the game after van Barneveld had made it 6-0. But he missed a dart at tops for Shanghai, allowing Barney to go further clear. The second seed took another leg. But a 116 finish put van Barneveld within a leg of victory, and he sealed the deal to set up a clash against Mensur Suljovic or Rob Cross.
