Smith produces strong display to beat Polish Eagle, Rasztovits edges out Whitlock

Michael Smith has reached the final day of the German Darts Championship after beating Krzysztof Ratajski on Saturday afternoon.

The former World Youth Champion hit a 97 average and produced a strong checkout percentage of 67 percent. Smith will face Ron Meulenkamp in the third round, after the Dutchman beat Stephen Bunting earlier on the afternoon.
Daryl Gurney averaged 99 to defeat Darren Johnson, who was unable to follow Gurney's high scores during the game. Martin Schindler and Michael Rasztovits both edged out one of the seeded players.
Schindler moved into the third round of the German Darts Championship after beating Steve Beaton 6-2. Rasztovits caused an upset against former major winner Simon Whitlock.
