Robert Thornton sealed his place in the Coral UK Open over the weekend but knows he is needs to be more consistent, he said in conversation with Red Dragon Darts.

The former UK Open Champion collected £1,500 prize money during the first three UK Open Qualifiers. Thornton reached the last 32 round on Friday and Saturday. However, 'The Thorn' is not finished yet as he want climb on the rankings. The top-32 ranked players receive a bye for the first two rounds in Minehead. The players between the 33rd and 64th position start the tournament in the second round. 'The Thorn' currently sits on the 33rd place after three events. ''I have done enough so far but I need to get more results to force myself further up the draw for the UK Open. I am improving and enjoying it, my form is getting there so I’m happy. ''I have showed good signs over the past few months of getting results. I still need another good run in a major and I am capable of that. ''People like to write you off in sport. That fires me up and I know that I will produce a lot more good tournaments to prove so many folk wrong.''
