Dirk van Duijvenbode criticised the German crowd following a first round defeat in the European Darts Matchplay.

The Dutchman fell to a 6-4 defeat against home favourite Max Hopp. The German crowd's vocal support of Hopp has been well-publicised and often frowned upon, especially during his win at the German Darts Open. The Hamburg fans were once again boisterously in favour of the youngster, at his opponent's expense. Van Duijvenbode reacted with an Instagram post that was quickly removed, and replaced with a more sedate message.
"Unfortunately I lost to Max Hopp. I learnt a wise lesson. It's tough when the crowd keeps booing when you hit a 180," van Duijvenbode said.
"Two months off now, then we will try our best again."
