Despite some poor results in the past two months, Michael van Gerwen is not shy to call himself the big favourite at the Champions League of Darts.

Van Gerwen has some more motivation to win this tournament, as this winners trophy is still missing on his honors list. The world number one said to Paddy Power News he is very confident ahead of the Champions League of Darts this weekend.
The 29-year-old Dutchman will face Dave Chisnall in his first group stage match. 'Chizzy' has not beat Van Gerwen in their last twenty matches. ''I've played him a lot of times and I've had so many good results against him.''
''It's very difficult for him to beat me and that's something I've got over him. I haven’t won the Champions League before, and that really is an extra motivator for me. It makes you hungrier having not won a title previously. I'd like this title, it's on the BBC and that makes it a big one to win.''
Gary Anderson and Daryl Gurney complete Van Gerwen's group at the Champions League of Darts. A very tough group, however 'Mighty Mike' sees a small advantage. ''Dave Chisnall and Daryl Gurney aren't playing the best at the minute.''
''Sure, I’m in a tough group, I need to make sure I beat them all and the same goes for Gary Anderson, it's that simple. I know if I play well, it's high unlikely that the rest can beat me.''
