After battling past a brave Madars Razma to seal his spot in round 3 of the
PDC World Darts Championship, a defiant
Gary Anderson hit out at his critics. "I couldn't give two monkeys what they say."
Despite being a two-time former world champion, Gary Anderson has not been mentioned as one of the favourites for this year's title by most pundits and commentators. Due to a relatively quiet year, Anderson has entered the 2023 World Championship somewhat under the radar. Never one to hide his true feelings however, the Flying Scotsman has hit back.
"I've heard the commentators for donkeys, if I actually gave a flying fish and chips what they thought and say I'd have packed in darts a long time ago," he says. "I couldn't give two monkeys what they say. Whether I'm above the radar or below I'm here to just throw darts and that's it."
With victory over Razma being the perfect 52nd birthday present, does Anderson who has recently been practising with Ryan Searle, believe he can join Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen as the only men to win the PDC World Darts Championship three times? "I don't know about this year." Anderson admits. "My games not even close to what it should be but I'm practising a heck of a lot more with Ryan who's coming on leaps and bounds, whether it happens or not, I can't honestly say."
