Nathan Aspinall eased past Stephen Bunting as he defied a late rally from 'The Bullet' to claim it 6-3 at the
Hungarian Darts Trophy and speaking afterwards, he said he doesn't like being last on and saw the lighter side of being on holiday as of late while the elite were on World Series duty.
"It was pretty bad wasn't it. I never like playing last game, obviously I flew out yesterday. I had all day yesterday, there's only so much Netflix you can watch. Stephen played fantastic yesterday, I'm good mates with Stephen. He's a fantastic player but luckily for me he didn't hit his doubles tonight," said Aspinall post match.
"All I can do is hit my doubles, it was a comfortable win in the end but pretty rubbish. I've had three weeks off while the pretty boys have been in Australia promoting our sport and done a fantastic job. I've had a couple of weeks in Portugal, I've hardly thrown a dart so I didn't know what was going to happen tonight but even though I didn't play well, I dug in and threw some decent shots at the right times."
He also spoke about never reaching a
European Tour final and believes he may finally have a chance with seeds falling left right and centre.
"I might finally get to a bloody final. I've won TV events, ProTours, I've never even got to the final of a European Tour. Should I see the sights of Budapest tomorrow, I don't know but they reckon I should (pointing at the crowd)."
