Nathan Aspinall has once again continued his resurgence this season by reaching the Quarter-Finals of the
Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton after a superb win over Jermaine Wattimena.
Aspinall won 10-6 with a 97.5 average and five 180's to seal his spot in tonight's opening Last 16 tie with Jonny Clayton or Alan Soutar awaiting next up for 'The Asp'.
He looked to make the tie light work in the early stages surging into a 4-1 lead with a 90 checkout with three 180's and a 103 average but Wattimena made a comeback from there.
He punished five missed darts at doubles from The Asp and closed the gap to 5-3 as a result but Aspinall stop the run of legs by restoring a two leg cushion at the break going 6-4 up.
Again he surged ahead taking out 66 to open up a cushion of 7-4 and followed that up with another to go one away at 9-5. Leaving 32 from 122, he pinned the target to move through.
