Alan Soutar continues to rise with the superb Scot in top form as of late and this is on full display during his Grand Slam of Darts debut this week in Wolverhampton.

Soutar is through to a maiden PDC major Quarter-Final after seeing off Jonny Clayton in a 10-8 win with a 97 average and six 180's as he sets up a clash against Nathan Aspinall next up who he defeated in the group albeit over a shorter format than their next tie.

At the first break, Soutar held a slender lead hitting an 11-darter on double 18 for 3-2 but on return, Clayton missed double 16 for a 104 checkout which allowed Soutar to break again at 5-2.

Back came Clayton though to reduce the arrears to two legs at 6-4 down at the break. Soutar again went in front pouncing on missed doubles at 7-4 but Clayton again applied pressure with a 136 checkout and held at 7-6.

But like previous times, Soutar came back hitting a 114 checkout at 8-6 and double nine to go one away. The tie though was prolonged with Soutar struggling to get over the line and it was soon 9-8 but leaving his favourite double 18 after 12-darts he stuck to the task and was rewarded.
