Beaton pleased after dumping out Wade: "I've had so many bad Christmases but I can go and enjoy it now"

Steve Beaton is through to the Last 16 at the 2020 PDC World Championship after defeating James Wade in a brilliant victory.
Beaton delighted the crowd by reaching the latter stages for the first time in 15 years and he is looking forward to having an enjoyable Christmas as a result of him getting through to the second half.
He added that he has to go into every tournament with that positive mindset and a lot of the time that is the key.
"I had to dig in to get that result," said Beaton, who will take on Darius Labanauskas next up.
"I've had so many bad Christmases but I can go and enjoy it now, knowing that I'm coming back for another game.
"I've got to be positive and think I've got every chance of getting even further in the tournament."

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
