Dave Chisnall was supreme against Stephen Bunting breezing past his fellow St Helens ace to begin the 2022
Masters in a whitewash win.
"It was decent, some good scores, some bad scores. But what won me the game was the doubles, I hit my doubles so that's a big bonus," said Chisnall post match.
"I was very confident going into this tournament because I've practiced so well and the doubles showed because I can't hit doubles normally but they're going in."
But this mirrors to the disappointment of getting COVID-19 during the PDC World Darts Championship. For Chisnall though, the isolation time allowed him to get ready for the new year.
"It was really disappointing but you've got to get over it and that's what I've done and it's given me more practice now for this year because when I got home I had to isolate for 10 days and so I just practiced for 10 days."
One aspect he isn't thinking of though is the Premier League and for Chisnall, he just wants to focus on the year ahead.
"I'd love to get in it but there's a lot of great dart players thinking the same so just see what goes on. I just want to have a good year and stay focused on my own game."
