Chris Mason opens up on time in prison: "I had a job in there on the unit where suicide attempts were held"

A clip was released this past week of Chris Mason's appearance on the Darts Show Podcast with Dan Dawson which will be released on August 24 where the former World Championship semi-finalist opens up on his time in prison.

In 2003, Mason was sent to prison for aggravated burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and he served a year of a three year sentence.

Speaking openly, he discussed a job he had in prison cleaning up the suicide units which only stoked his own thoughts to commit suicide while in prison.

"I actually had a job in there on the unit where suicide attempts were held like in a hospital unit but I had the job of cleaning up the cells as no one really wanted to do that. I didn't mind it, didn't really phase me at all. I'm like oh this is how he done it," said Mason to The Darts Show Podcast.

As well as a prison officer who saved his life and stopped him taking any action.

"Dickie Knox, he was an officer in there. He absolutely loved me, he didn't mind telling me he loved me as a player. He'd sit me down and he knew. He went you ain't gonna do it, I won't let you, you'll come back."
