For Cross, it was the ninth Players Championship title of his career, the first this year.
Incidentally, among the players who have played at least ten Players Championship finals, the 32-year-old Englishman has the highest winning percentage. He won no fewer than nine of his 11 finals, good for a percentage of 81.8%.
In second place is Phil Taylor. 'The Power' won 45 of his 56 finals at a Players Championship, good for 80.4%. Michael van Gerwen completes the top three with a winning percentage of 75.6%.
