Dave Chisnall has advanced to the last 16 at the
World Darts Championship in London. The 43-year-old Englishman gave
Gabriel Clemens quite a lesson in effectiveness, winning 4-1 in sets.
The difference in this match was made on the doubles. Chisnall hit 13 of his 26 darts. His opponent Clemens was even 1 out of 19 on the doubles for a while but eventually finished with a finishing percentage of 24 percent (7/29).
Clemens won the first leg of the match, but then missed several arrows to win the second and third leg. In the end, the first set went 3-1 to Chisnall. In the second set, "The German Giant" missed chances on the outer ring in two legs. Chisnall missed only one double and took the second set 3-0.
In the third leg of the third set, Clemens was finally able to hit a double again. But the German could not prevent his English opponent from winning the set 3-1. Clemens then took the fourth set, but then Chisnall decided the match in the fifth set.
It is the seventh time for Chisnall that he has reached the last sixteen at Alexandra Palace. At the 2017 and 2019 editions, he reached the quarter-finals and in 2021 he even reached the semifinals. In the next round, 'Chizzy' will face the winner of the match between Daryl Gurney and Ricky Evans.
