Jose de Sousa has secured second spot in this year's
Premier League Darts regular season table in his debut year after seeing off Nathan Aspinall in an 8-3 win.
De Sousa did it in style with a 149 checkout to conclude it all as he ended the hopes of Aspinall finishing top with a 103 average to boot.
This means Michael van Gerwen seals top spot in the table and the Β£25,000 bonus with a game to spare and now the Portuguese ace will return to face Nathan Aspinall tomorrow night once more in the semi-finals.
It was a brilliant tie for De Sousa as was evidenced with the opening leg where he hit a remarkable 120 checkout using only double 20.
Breaks followed between the pair but De Sousa pulled clear from there including hitting double 20 again twice this time for an 80 checkout and he ended the hopes by claiming a guaranteed point before the aforementioned 149 checkout to end it all.
