Draw and Schedule for 2022 German Darts Championship confirmed

The draw for the 2022 German Darts Championship has been confirmed on Thursday evening. The second European Tour tournament of the year will be played in Hildesheim from March 11-13.

This European Tour tournament is on the PDC calendar for the tenth time. Among the top entries are the likes of Peter Wright, Jonny Clayton and Michael van Gerwen, who all enter the event in the second round.

Gerwyn Price, Brendan Dolan and Ted Evetts have withdrawn from this tournament. Price is suffering from a hand injury, while Dolan and Evetts are ill. As a result of these withdrawals, Gabriel Clemens and Chris Dobey have been added to the top 16 seeded players. Because the field now consists of 45 players, Jamie Hughes, Devon Petersen and Mensur Suljovic also have a bye in the first round.

So only thirteen matches will be played on Friday instead of the usual sixteen. The afternoon session will see the likes of Scott Waites, Alan Soutar and Ricky Evans entering the stage at the Halle 39 in Hildesheim. Dave Chisnall, Vincent van der Voort, Daryl Gurney, Kim Huybrechts and Adrian Lewis are playing their first match on Friday evening.

José de Sousa is the number one seed after Price's withdrawal and he will face Joe Murnan or Huybrechts. Peter Wright will meet Martin Schindler or Jermaine Wattimena, while Michael van Gerwen faces Jose Justicia or George Killington. Jonny Clayton awaits a clash with Scott Waites or Marko Kantele.
