Nico Blum won the Sapphire Darts Trophy last Sunday in Gevelsberg, Germany. The event was organized by darts influencer Sarah Milkowski and her husband Lukas.
Blum has resumed his career after putting his focus on finishing his studies in recent years. Blum used to be considered a great darts talent, competing for youth titles especially with generation mate Justin van Tergouw. However, he proved during the Sapphire Darts Trophy that he can still throw an excellent dart.
The field of participants included such PDC Tour Card holders as Boris Krcmar, Brian Raman, Rowby-John Rodriguez, Jermaine Wattimena and Ricardo Pietreczko. Two of them were defeated by Blum himself. The German dealt with Krcmar (4-3) in the quarterfinals. Blum then also defeated Christopher Hänsch (4-0) and Pietreczko (5-2) to claim the title.
