Adam Gawlas dented the return of Richie Burnett to the big stage for the first time since 2014 with a debut win at the PDC
World Darts Championship.
Gawlas only just got to the showpiece tournament sealing the final spot and going out early at the last ProTour to make the wait even more nervy. But he was pleased to seal it and now likely won't have to go to Q-School.
"The last ProTour I won against Florian Hempel, hit a 150, 130 and 96 checkout I was losing that and I didn't know that Jeffrey de Zwaan already lost and I was in the 32nd spot to qualify for the World Championship. Thank you for the live Order of Merit for making it more stressful.
But by his own admission, the Czech ace said he needs to make lifestyle changes to improve and potentially go up the darting ladder.
"Now I can maybe focus on myself to lose some weight as I'm too fat. Darts made me too fat. I'm really looking forward to getting home to my family and my mother who's having her birthday today, Happy Birthday Mum."
