Jenkins claims double win to begin Icons of Darts League campaign, Nijman continues unbeaten run with win over Van Barneveld

Former PDC World Championship semi-finalist Andy Jenkins has started well in his Icons of Darts League campaign with two wins out of two to begin the day.
Jenkins who replaced Mark Webster today as part of the line-up which will alternate all week started the day with a hard fought win over Paul Nicholson 5-4 with an 84 average, two 180's and 5/25 on his doubles.
He then pounced against David Evans on 'Stretch' missing four match darts in the deciding leg and despite Evans being in front for most of the tie, it was the Hampshire ace who nicked it at the last hurdle in another 5-4 win on double 19 to claim maximum points so far.
In the midst of that, the star of the opening day, Wessel Nijman continued where he left off in dispatching Raymond van Barneveld once again 5-2 like he did at the same point on Monday to make it five matches overall unbeaten.
This saw him averaging just under 90, hitting two 180's and hitting 29 percent on doubles en route against the Dutch legend who has yet to pick up a win in the League so far, can Nijman make it two out of two?

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024

If you want to see crowd passion... watch a match when German and Dutch players face off... that can be just as bad if not worse for crowd noises.
