Adrian Lewis sealed his first ProTour title in over three years last week which saw him claim a return to the World Matchplay after a year away and he was glad to achieve his goal last week in Barnsley.
"I can't wait, I went into last week's ProTours knowing that I had to try to stay ahead of the field. I knuckled down and did my job so really proud of that," said Lewis to Weekly Dartscast.
17th World Matchplay
It will be a 17th trip to the Winter Gardens for 'Jackpot' and he discussed what has changed after prior form woes.
"Over the past four or five months, I've been having some big averages and just finding some consistency. Instead of averaging 90's and losing matches, if I can average around the 100 mark consistently, that's how I will start picking up more titles."
He will be playing Michael van Gerwen though with the duo having an incredible battle back in 2013 as Lewis reached the final.
"It's up there. It was the semi-finals and obviously neither of us wanted to lose. It was a great game, I missed doubles early doors and let him off a few times and he let me off at the end missing that double 13."
But looking ahead the title has put him in a good position for other majors and he wants to turn the tide in particular at the World Grand Prix.
"I'm in a good spot for the World Grand Prix, it's not been my favourite event over the years but I've made the final there so there's no reason I can't do it again and have a good run."
Taylor World Seniors
His good friend Phil Taylor has been playing in the World Seniors as of late and 'Jackpot' has watched a small amount but won't be practicing with him due to distance.
"I've seen the highlights. He'll get there, you know what he's like. He won't give in till he wins something again."
