Jason Lowe claimed a debut win at the PDC World Darts Championship over Dmitriy Gorbunov in a tough battle for the Cradley Heath ace who looked to be heading with ease to a tie with Michael Smith but had to survive a late fightback.
Lowe spoke afterwards about the nerves on making his debut as well as his story in finally getting his Tour Card this past January.
"I was nervous. I had a great year, I qualified for 3 Euro Tours, didn't do well in those so to be honest, the last six months of my game has been quite poor and I've got that on my mind so going into this match I wasn't very confident," said Lowe post match.
"I'm hoping I've got a few days now so I can get some practice in but I've got to play better to have a chance against Michael (Smith)."
"I actually flipped a coin and it landed on heads and I went to Q-School and I had a great first day and I went through. As I say, the first six months was great, whether it's to do with the lockdown, me not practicing so much and my games gone down a touch so I'm hopefully trying to get that back."
