There was a lot of talk after the Belgian Darts Open about the clash between Ricardo Pietreczko and
Luke Humphries after their semifinal at the Euro Tour tournament in Wieze.
'Pikachu' was angry because of an action by Littler in the sixth leg. 'The Nuke' was leading 3-2 at that point and was on 147 after 12 arrows. He tried to throw out this score via triple 19, tops and bullseye, but threw his second arrow off the board. Pietreczko came back to 3-3 moments later, but saw the next four legs go to his English opponent.
After Pietreczko expressed his displeasure in words and gestures, he added to it via Instagram by accusing Littler of arrogance. Meanwhile, Pietreczko did apologize for his behavior.
Several darters and followers immediately after the incident stood up for Littler, who they said had done nothing wrong. Luke Humphries joined them Thursday night after Humphries won the seventh round of Premier League play in Nottingham.
''It's his first year in it. He's got to learn. He's going to learn a lot. If he wants to be different on the stage and try more exhibitions shots let him, do it. If he tried the same 147 against me as he did against Ricardo in Belgium, I’d be happy as it gives me more of a chance to win.”
''Luke [Littler] doesn’t let anyone influence him. There’s no arrogance, that’s just the way he is. He’s still learning his craft, and he might not be handling the pressure as everyone expects but he will certainly go onto win a couple Premier League nights like me, I’m certain of that."
