Mickey Mansell will face
Peter Wright in the last match of the opening session of the 2022/23 PDC
World Darts Championship after winning the first match of the tournament.
Mansell defeated Ben Robb in a 3-1 sets win with three 180's, a 92 average and 47.4% on the doubles and he will aim to topple the World Champion later.
Mansell started the tie well with two 140’s and a 64 checkout for an opening hold. Both hit 180’s with Mansell hitting another to leave 81 and went one away from the opening set with a break.
Another maximum saw Mansell towards the opening set and he pinned double eight for it. Robb missed 164 on the bull but returned for double four for a hold.
Mansell missed 111 for a hold and Robb went one away from 1-1 on double 12. Double eight was pinned by Robb for the set.
Robb missed 89 for an opening break on the bull but Mansell slipped on 54 only to hit double 10 for a hold.
Robb missed 146 to hold only for Mansell to hit 51 to go one away from a 2-1 sets lead. A 54 checkout sealed that.
Robb missed another ton plus shot at 116 and Mansell broke on double six for a 1-0 lead. Mansell missed four darts to hold and go one away and Robb broke at 1-1.
Robb hit a 118 checkout to and went one away from 2-2 in sets. Mansell missed 95 on the bull for 2-2 but Robb missed 72 for that 2-2 sets deficit and Mansell returned for double 10. Mansell missed a match dart but after Robb missed 110 for the set, Mansell sealed it.
