A dominant display at times, Alan Soutar moved into the Quarter-Finals of the Grand Slam of Darts with the next task being a tie against Nathan Aspinall in a repeat of their group clash and he was delighted to seal one of his biggest wins against Jonny Clayton.
"Absolutely delighted with that and I felt like I turned up on stage for once, that's my game. I don't know what the averages were but I felt like I turned up there. I'm delighted, it's great to get a big win against a big player on the stage," said Soutar post match.
Asked if it's his best ever, Soutar said he doesn't think of it like that and the belief is there that on his day, he can defeat anyone.
"I don't quantify it in that way. I think everyone back home will be buzzing off that but I just play darts and I think I'm better than that. I know I'm better than that. I'm getting better and I'm finding my feet and I can cause a little bit of upsets in these tournaments and for being in the top 40 in the world, people look at me and think oh it's just Soots but I can take these guys out."
Also asked if he wished he would have switched sooner, he said no mainly due to work reasons but spoke of his love for playing now in the PDC.
"This is different level and it's darts that makes you sweat. I love the pressure, I love the buzz of being under the gun."
