Niko Springer has become the fourth German darter to secure participation in the upcoming
World Darts Championship. The "Meenzer Bub," his particular nickname, secured a Ally Pally starting ticket through the PDC Development Tour Order of Merit.
The top two players of the Development Tour season are eligible to compete at Alexandra Palace. Because number one Wessel Nijman has already qualified through the Pro Tour, this year it is the numbers two and three who get to go to the World Darts Championship.
During the penultimate tournament of the 2024 PDC Development Tour, the 24-year-old Springer secured a final ranking in the top three. That performance also earned him a Tour Card for 2025 and 2026.
In addition to Springer, Martin Schindler, Gabriel Clemens and Ricardo Pietreczko have also qualified for the Worlds. Florian Hempel is virtually on a World Championships spot, but is far from certain of qualification. There will be another German player anyway, because as every year the PDC Europe Super League is played in November, where German darters compete for an Alexandra Palace ticket.
