Noppert 'super nervous' before defeat to Wright: "I was shaking like a leaf"

Danny Noppert was easily eliminated from the World Matchplay in Blackpool after a 10-2 defeat to Peter Wright in the first round.

Noppert indicated afterwards that nerves were an issue pre match against Wright.

“I was super nervous. I was shaking like a leaf. That's really bad actually. It's been great on the floor lately, but I still missed the feeling of the stage. Although more people will suffer from that," he told RTL 7.

Quickly forget the match

Did the loss to the colorful Scot come as a surprise to him? ''Not beforehand, because I'm really comfortable. I've been playing darts well lately, that's why it hurts extra to lose on the stage like this."

“This is very sour. I'm going to forget this match very quickly. On to the next one, although of course I'm disappointed'', added Noppert.
