O'Connor and Lennon after cruising through World Cup of Darts opener: "We never get easy draws, it's as if it's hand picked to kill us"

William O'Connor and Steve Lennon surged through to the second round of the World Cup of Darts seeing off Jeff Smith and Matt Campbell of Canada and the relief of getting through after another tough draw was there.

"Kind of relieved is the best way to put it. It wasn't the easiest first round to get but two of us were playing well so everything just clicked in the game," said Lennon to Online Darts.

"It was a tough first game. In fairness we never get easy draws. I'm not saying there's any easy draws but c'mon it's as if it's hand picked to kill us. It was mentally draining up there, it was really warm. Fair play to Steve, he carried me over the line," said O'Connor.

Not winning since they got to the final, O'Connor doesn't care too much about that stat "It's just another game. It doesn't matter what happens in the past. You can win every game, you can win a tournament last week but what happens today is a whole different scenario. It doesn't matter what happens win lose or draw."

He also joked when asked about the rising talents coming through trying to take their position in the team.

"John O'Shea what is he now 47, he's coming through. We've got a young lad, Keane Barry. There's a lot of young players coming through and it keeps you on your toes."
