The race to the World Matchplay is hotting up with only two events to go until the cut off which are the eighteenth Players Championship event which takes place later today (Sunday 23rd) and the Czech Darts Open next weekend.
James Wilson in reaching the
semi-final yesterday gave himself a massive chance of making it to the
World Matchplay and he sits just inside the qualification spots at 14th place.
Kyle Anderson is currently holding on to the final position in the ProTour Order of Merit and bad runs for the likes of Ryan Searle, Ross Smith and Gabriel Clemens yesterday mean that they need to perform today with them not involved in Prague.
Ron Meulenkamp brought himself into contention yesterday after similarly reaching the semi-final; but he is in 23rd place and would potentially need another similar run today to put himself into the top 16.
He like a couple of others though such as Keegan Brown, Steve West and William O'Connor all qualified for the European Tour event so still have time on their side.
The current final three qualified in Wilson, Van der Voort and Anderson on the other hand aren't so will likely face a nervy wait next week to see if they've qualified.
Overall there are still 10 spots available going into these final two events with 29 people in the reckoning for them meaning it's going to be a tense time in Wigan and Prague.
