Rodriguez survives five match darts and moves into the second round of the Hungarian Darts Trophy, while de Sousa and Wade also advance

After Rowby-John Rodriguez was unable to qualify for a tournament on the PDC European Tour in the recent past, he has taken advantage of the opportunity presented to him in Hungary, where he is finally back on the tour.

Little John took on the Hungarian Patrik Kovács, who started the match with a break. The Hungarian was able to maintain this lead for a very long time. Although Rodriguez had a break chance in the sixth leg, he missed two shots on double 16, so the leg went to Kovács, who held the lead at 4-2.

In the eighth leg, Rodriguez managed to break to 4-4, but immediately afterwards had to watch as his Hungarian opponent restored the old gap with 5-4 and had four match darts in the tenth leg. However, Kovács couldn't take advantage of this and Little John broke to make it 5-5.

Now it was Rodriguez's turn to throw to win the match. This almost went wrong because the Hungarian had another match dart, which again missed its target. Rodriguez took his last chance and closed the bag to face Ryan Searle in the second round.

James Wade won his match against William O'Connor 6-3 and will face Joe Cullen in the second round. World champion Michael Smith will face Jose de Sousa as his opponent on Saturday. The latter was able to beat Daryl Gurney 6-5.
