Stompé talks about Van Gerwen's chances to win a fourth world title: 'He's back in form, just in time'

Co Stompé is one of the pundits in the RTL 7 studio on the Dutch television. The Matchstick, as his nickname on the tour was, has never been bored in the silent corona era.

The former tram driver was at work at airport Schiphol. "I had some time left'', said Stompé to De Telegraaf. "A friend of mine is doing a renovation there and I was able to help with the partition walls."

Stompé has put darts on the back burner. He currently only practices the sport in the living room. "To keep the wrist a little flexible."

The two-time quarter-finalist at the PDC World Darts Championship is also disappointed by the lack of fans at the Alexandra Palace. "The only ones that are doing well during this time are the betting offices."

Stompé considers the chances of Van Gerwen high. "He's in form, just in time. He's one of the contenders for the title. I don't think we're going to get a strange winner, but never say never."
