Recently, there was English dominance at the Grand Slam of Darts with four English players in the last four. At the
Players Championship Finals, however, this has never happened before.
Moreover, statistics from Darts Tracker show that no two players from the same country have ever faced each other in the final, despite the fact that it was common for the bulk of players in the quarter-finals to be of English nationality.
This happened, for example, in 2010 with seven Englishmen and an Australian in the quarter-finals. In the end, Australian Paul Nicholson then managed to deal with England's Phil Taylor in the final.
Also during the February 2011 edition, there were seven Englishmen in the last eight; but in the end it was Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson (Scotland) who battled for the final victory. In December 2011, there was an edition where seven of the eight quarter-finalists were from England. However, the final at that time was between an Englishman (Kevin Painter) and a Welshman (Mark Webster).
