Van Barneveld a year and a half after comeback: "It's hard for me, but I don't regret it"

Raymond van Barneveld returned to the PDC Pro Tour last year. The five-time world champion has since climbed to 55th place in the world rankings.

Van Barneveld makes an evaluation almost one and a half years after his return to the PDC. "Last year I started like a comet and almost immediately won a Players Championship tournament. Because of that I was soon sure of participation in the World Championship and I could play freely", Van Barneveld said to the Belgian TV channel VTM.

"But this year is difficult, the comeback is really hard. In most tournaments I win some matches, but I can't really compete for the final win. All those floor tournaments do not really suit me, because I am not a morning person. I have always played my best matches in the evening", says Barney.

No regrets

At the last World Championship, Van Barneveld lost in the second round against Rob Cross. "That took a lot of getting used to, I had to recover from that. Yet I have not regretted my comeback. At the time I announced my farewell too early and I feel there is still something in the tank", concludes the 55-year-old Dutchman.
