Dirk van Duijvenbode has sealed a second PDC ranking title after seeing off
Ryan Searle in a superb final which 'The Titan' edged in an 8-7 victory.
Van Duijvenbode won his first back in 2021 winning in Niedernhausen and after a terrific day which started with a 109 average and also included multiple efforts in the 104 range, he denied 'Heavy Metal' back-to-back glory.
Searle began with an 81 checkout to break and go 1-0 up. A 146 checkout saw Van Duijvenbode level up and pinned double 16 to consolidate.
Searle hit a 95 checkout to make it 2-2. Searle went 3-2 up to break and consolidated to go 4-2 up. Van Duijvenbode missed 130 on the bull but a 120 wasn’t pinned by Searle and the former returned on double eight to make it 4-4.
Searle began Van Duijvenbode’s throw with a 171 as he looked to reopen his lead but the Dutchman hit double 18 to make it 5-4. A 76 checkout saw Van Duijvenbode break for 6-4.
A 140, 100 and 180 saw Van Duijvenbode hit double four to go one away from the title. Searle held to make it 7-5 with Van Duijvenbode looking to hold for the title.
He left double eight with Searle needing 119 which he pinned to break back and he was throwing for 7-7. He missed 54 to level and Van Duijvenbode took aim at 136 but missed double eight for it.
Searle hit double 20 to send it all the way in which the Dutchman had the throw which he sealed with Searle unable to take out 122. Van Duijvenbode returned for double 16 which he pinned.
