Van Gerwen will aim tonight to win a first title of the season in the Nordic Darts Masters and he definitely has the crowd on his side.
"Of course it feels good. Especially when you win, I think overall I played okay. It wasn't superb but I had a couple of really good shots early doors where I probably hurt him and you need to take advantage of that. Overall I think I was the better player and you need to take confidence out of it," said Van Gerwen post match.
"The crowd cannot imagine how important it is to us especially when it's so nice to get back to normal. It's been amazing so far but I'm not done yet."
Jonny Clayton is next with 'The Ferret' being a thorn in his side in the last few months but he is confident ahead of their clash.
"I know what I have to do to beat him. Of course he played a phenomenal game against Peter Wright but I know what I'm capable of. I'm gonna make it really difficult tonight."
