James Wade has witnessed the growth of darts first hand since coming onto the scene in 2004 and this includes the World Series of Darts which will return to Australia and New Zealand this week.
For the first time since 2019, it will be played and Wade discussed the growth of the tournaments for darts all around the world.
“It's very important for the game to grow,” said Wade, a World Series of Darts Finals winner in 2018.
“It’s maybe not as important for me because I’ve been doing it for a long time now and I'm coming towards the end or latter middle stage of my career.
“For the younger players, it’s massive. I can only imagine what they're going to experience.
“What I've experienced and what I've done is amazing, and the game’s just getting bigger and stronger.
“So, you can only imagine what they're going to experience in 20 years time.”
The Aldershot ace has never won a World Series title despite being a constant presence in the events since 2013 but said that he believes it will come at some point.
“I go to every tournament thinking I am going to win," he added.
“I haven't won a World Series [title] yet, but I'm sure I will. If I could tell you when I'd be a rich man!
“There's no reason why I won't win any tournament if I'm feeling right, but you’ve also got a thing called opponents, and sometimes opponents play very well.
“The standard of the game full stop has just risen beyond all expectation.”
