Wade on Grand Slam final defeat to De Sousa: “I was rubbish”

James Wade lost out in the final of the Grand Slam of Darts as he couldn’t make it third times the charm against Jose de Sousa.

The left-hander lost the Grand Slam of Darts final before in 2010 and 2016. Wade berated his performance afterwards and said he was ‘confused’ about how he played.

"In the final I was rubbish. He outplayed me by a million miles," Wade admitted.

"It hurts when you don't play well and it hurts when you don't contest someone. I'm still confused as to why that happened.

"I'm finding it hard to be positive after that, it's very disappointing. Jose played a lot better than me. The better man won on the day."
