Former Premier League runner-up and World Champion, Peter Wright will be among those part of the play-offs currently at the O2 next month with his fate secured before he threw a dart.
This was due to Michael van Gerwen's crushing defeat to Daryl Gurney which put the World Number One out of the reckoning. Still though he claimed victory over Michael Smith winning 8-5.
He spoke afterwards and has his sights firmly set on claiming victory in the play-offs ahead of a small break at home ahead of the PDC Autumn Series.
"I just wanted to win and finish second, and I didn't know what the situation was if I got a draw," said Wright. "I'm happy with the result but it was always going to be difficult.
"I was fifth when the Premier League started again and your target is to finish in the top four so I've done that - but the job's not done yet and I want to win the trophy now.
"I'll be glad to get home now and I've got time before the finals, and I'll be fresh for that."
