Young after dumping out Van Barneveld in final competitive tournament: "It's excitement for me but I feel bad for Raymond"

Darin Young claimed a major scalp last night defeating Raymond van Barneveld in his final competitive event on the biggest stage of them all, the 2020 PDC World Championship.

Young spoke afterwards and said that while he is 'excited' to be through, he does feel for Van Barneveld after knowing him for so long.

In terms of his mindset before the game, 'Big Daddy' said that he knew he was going to be up against it but went for it knowing that any event could be his final one.

"I'm excited. I think as anyone would be. Raymond (Van Barneveld) has been a friend of mine for the best part of 15 years, it's excitement for me but I feel bad for Raymond," said Young.

"I don't feel that bad for him, the guy has probably more money than I do obviously but I am happy I won that's all that I can say."

"I understood I was going to be the underdog as far as the crowd was concerned but the first few times I was here, you get that to you but I kind of played that to my advantage. But I've been putting a lot of practice in and a lot of preparation, I don't know how many more events I am going to qualify for so you never know when it's going to be your last one."
