Steve Hine is through to the Last 16 at the 2022 WDF
Lakeside World Championship after cruising past Leonard Gates in straight sets with 'Soldier' one of the outside favourites heading out.
Hine was in control early taking the opening set 3-1 with Gates performing well on his scoring but not on his doubles which proved the difference. He looked to kick into gear from there but was halted in his comeback by Hine who pinned double 16.
As was the theme of the game to begin set three, Gates missed 147 for a break and Hine punished him to go one away from the victory. He bust 130 to win the match and Gates returned for double 20.
Hine missed 138 on double 12 for the win but returned with Gates unable to take out 97 on double 12.

Andy Baetens has battled past Dave Parletti in a brilliant display from the Belgian winning through 3-1 with a 93 average and five maximums en route.
To begin his Lakeside return, Baetens swept the opening set with a 92 average and he hit double 20 to lead in the second with a break.
He missed the same target for a 151 but was allowed multiple opportunities to close it out and go 2-0 up with Parletti missing the chance to break. He hit double nine to go 2-0 up in sets.
Parletti hit a 156 to go 2-0 up. Baetens hit back on double 10 to go 2-1 down but Parletti completed the set with a 48 checkout.
Double six from Parletti after three darts to break from Baetens went begging saw him go 1-0 up. Baetens though returned for two 180’s before pinning 82 to level up. A 51 checkout on double 16 saw him go one away before pinning 54 for the win.
