Hutchinson on pre-tournament expectations after reaching Lakeside final: "The only target I set was to win Game One"

Kirsty Hutchinson sealed her place in the final of the 2022 WDF Lakeside World Championship after edging past Rhian O'Sullivan and will now face Beau Greaves.

Speaking post match, Hutchinson admitted she only expected to win her opener so everything is a bonus barring that.

"The only target I set this week was to win Game One. So to be here and to be in the final is a massive achievement and whatever happens, it happens and I'm happy with the week I put in,"

As well as giving her pre-tournament mindset, she also spoke about the flow of the game and kicking into gear when it mattered most at the end.

"I was trying to say to myself relax you're two sets up and then all of a sudden I looked at the screen and I was like oh wow it's 1-1 in the final set and you need to do some scoring.

"I turned to my dad and I just said what was happening. It was that whole I was two sets up and I was then too comfortable and then it came back 2-2 and I went the other way. I needed to get back and get on a level."
