The World Darts Federation (WDF) earlier came out with the news that the
World Masters will be held again after a year's absence. Now a venue is also known.
After the British Darts Organization (BDO) quit, the WDF took over the organization of the World Masters in 2022. The tournament then took place in venue De Bonte Wever in Assen.
In 2023, however, the WDF came out with the news that the tournament would not take place that year. So this year the tournament is back on the schedule and now it is also known where it will take place. From Wednesday, Oct. 9 to Sunday, Oct. 13, the second edition of the WDF World Masters will be held at the BOK Gerevich Aladár Nemzeti Sportcsarnok in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
Defending champions are
Wesley Plaisier in the men and
Beau Greaves in the women. By the way, the prize pool is unchanged from two years ago, the winner in the men will receive 10000 Euros, the winner in the women will receive 5000 Euros.
Only players invited by the WDF can participate in this tournament. Thus, players can qualify through local and international tournaments. Each player pays a standard 10 euro entry fee for the World Masters.
World Open and World Cup qualifying tournament.
In the same week of the World Masters, another tournament takes place at the same venue with the World Open. Two years ago this was a 'silver' tournament, this year it is a 'Gold' one. That means the winners of this tournament are automatically qualified for the WDF WC later this year.
A qualifying tournament for the upcoming World Cup will also be played in Budapest. A total of 4 men, 2 women, 4 boys and 2 girls can earn a spot for Lakeside.
