Scott Mitchell will head into a busy period when darts restarts again with the PDC Autumn Series followed by the conclusion of the Challenge Tour - which he currently leads.
Mitchell spoke in an interview at the Target Sports Stars Fishing Championship about playing in the Summer Series after an eventful lockdown in the MODUS Live League and playing Michael van Gerwen in his first match on the Players Championship series.
"I went to the Summer Series having played in the Live League and it helped me no end. The Summer Series was a great thing for me to be involved in, I really enjoyed it," said Mitchell to Tungsten Tales.
"First game I drew Michael (van Gerwen) on the live stream which came to a few laughs in the auditorium but I loved every minute of it. I'll never forget that game for two reasons: he beat me 6-2 and the two legs I had, I shot out on double 1 and I shot a 170. It was probably the first time I've played a game in ten years where I was the underdog. So I've gone from being one of the favourites to coming back at the other end as an underdog and I've quite enjoyed that."
'Scotty Dog' has been long a BDO stalwart but moved over at the start of the year and is glad he made the decision. He also as the leader of the secondary tour has his sights set on making his PDC World Championship debut this year.
"I think it was the right move for me, I'm not getting any younger so if you're going to go; you've got to go when you're playing your best and I feel I'm playing the best darts I've played in my life at the moment."
"I've probably been the longest No.1 in the Challenge Tour. I shall be hitting the practice board and making sure I'm ready to go. I want to be one of those guys who's played at both. I've won a little bit of money but I'm in the right place and hopefully I can stay there."
