Robert Thornton recently sealed the inaugural World Seniors Darts Championship seeing off Martin Adams and he caught up with the Weekly Dartscast to chat about the recent triumph and how it feels to be champion.
"It feels brilliant to be the very first Seniors World Champion. I'll never forget it, it's a great accolade," said Thornton to Weekly Dartscast.
"I was confident, I was a bit nervous and apprehensive. I didn't know what sort of reception I'd get. Once I got in the game, I settled down a bit and the crowd were amazing."
But his teddy bear which usually sits on stage which his granddaughter got him was not at the World Seniors but it will be back.
"I thought he was in my suitcase but he was not. I actually left him at home, I was absolutely gutted. But trust me, the teddy will be back on tour. That's not the first time I've been asked that."
Now will be looking ahead to the next World Seniors events which Thornton believes he is in and will be practicing hard for.
"I'm in them. I'm in The Masters, I'm looking forward to it. I'll be practicing hard again and hopefully can win that one as well."
